- Why Offer Aeroseal to Your Customers?
-
Simply put, because of the forces behind it and how effectively Aeroseal seals ducts. This breakthrough patented technology was developed in the 1990s at U.C. Berkeley with funding from the United States Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency, California Institute for Energy Efficiency, and Electric Power Research Institute. Additionally, the Department of Energy declared Aeroseal as one of the most beneficial energy technologies for American consumers.
-
What all this means for you is the ability to give your customers an excellent solution to a problem everyone has — and that can also be highly profitable for you.
- Why Duct Sealing?
-
A central heating and cooling system is only as effective as the duct system that supports it. Most home duct systems have never been properly checked for duct leakage or airflow. While your customers can see a water leak, an air leak is invisible. Even being invisible, these leaky ducts contribute to various issues ranging from wasted energy, hard to heat or cool rooms, excessive humidity and dust, along with other concerns.
-
Is duct leakage a “real” issue: Yes, the facts show American homes use almost 25% of the energy consumed in the United States, with the average household spending $2000 a year on home energy bills. On average, 30 cents of every $1 spent on heating and cooling disappears into thin air due to leaky ducts. This duct leakage in homes costs consumers $25 billion each year on escaping energy. These leaks also force HVAC systems to work harder and ultimately wear out sooner.
-
Another related issue is duct leaks contribute to poor indoor air quality. Indoor air pollution is an EPA high-priority public risk with levels of pollutants indoors being up to 5 times higher than outdoor levels. According to the EPA, most people spend roughly 90% of their lives indoors. This makes indoor air pollution one of the five most urgent environmental problems facing the US with 1 in 15 Americans having allergies or asthma. In addition, the average home produces twice the greenhouse gases as the average car. In fact, 15% of all greenhouse gases are generated from the energy used in houses nationwide. Another issue to consider is that excess humidity levels can lead to costly repairs for homeowners.
-
A recent study by the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy shows optimizing residential duct work is a top 15 emerging energy saving technology. Until the development of the Aeroseal duct sealing technology, there was no efficient method of sealing remote leaks in HVAC ducts. Because most homeowners and building owners have not been aware of the presence of those leaks in their HVAC systems, there is a HUGE UNTAPPED MARKET awaiting you!
- Why Become an Aeroseal Dealer?

The White House also states that making homes more energy efficient is a no-brainer. It saves consumers money and reduces our countries dependence on foreign oil. A recent ImagePower Green Brands Survey shows most consumers want to purchase from environmentally responsible companies and plan to spend more on “green” products in the coming year. American consumer spending on “green” products exceeds $500 billion.
- Differentiation from competitors: Maximize new customer relationships by specializing in services your competitors don’t offer.
- Reduce comparison shopping with other bids
- Labor Efficiency:
- Duct improvement services can be sold year-round
- Keep employees busy in slow seasons
- Aeroseal technicians can be cross-trained and used for installing other
products or performing other services during busy seasons
- Increase average invoice price and utilize employees time more effectively by bundling duct diagnostic and repair with existing services and products
- Upgrade services and increase close rates:
- Aeroseal gives you, the contractor, an opportunity to provide additional
services for your customers
- Cost effective alternative to upgrading to a high efficiency heating
and cooling system
- Aeroseal gives you, the contractor, an opportunity to provide additional
- Employee relations: Because it’s so effective, the Aeroseal technology helps attract and keep your employees’ interest which helps them up-sell Aeroseal (and other services) you offer
How much can I charge: Depending on energy rates, and utility or state incentives, consumers pay between $1100 and $2000 for an Aeroseal solution.
How many seals a month can I expect to sell: Aeroseal dealers that actively promote duct sealing and integrate it with other divisions, average 10-12 seals per month. Some dealers complete as many as 300 seals each year on a single Aeroseal machine.
- Our Patent for Your Success
-
The competitive advantage is yours with our patented, one-of-a-kind technology. There is simply nothing better than Aeroseal.
How does it work: Our technology accesses leaks from the inside out. Small aerosol particles are kept suspended in the airflow by continuous air movement. As the air stream makes a sharp turn to exit through a leak, the particles collide with and adhere to the leak edges.
Is it safe: Aeroseal uses an inorganic, non-volatile vinyl acetate polymer sealant which has been used in water-based paints, hair spray and chewing gum.
What are the application limitations: Aeroseal has been designed to use with flexible and rigid ducts. It is approved for use in homes with duct board and has been proven to be effective in sealing all return duct systems including panned-in returns. Aeroseal can be used in homes with zoning systems, humidifiers, non-ozone generating UV lights and high efficiency air cleaners.
Will it damage ducts: Aeroseal pressurizes the duct to less than 0.1 WC – far less than the normal HVAC operating pressures. Only one to two ounces of sealant remains on the inside of the duct system.
Must the ducts be cleaned before sealing: The atomized aerosol particles flow through normal duct hubris to the source of the air leak.
Is the technology proven: Aeroseal was extensively researched, developed and tested in the most strenuous HVAC environments. We have had systems in operation for over 10 years and sealed more than 10,000 homes. The sealant is warranted for 10 years.
How long does the equipment last: Approximately 15 years.
- What Is the Aeroseal System?
-
What do I get:
- Fan box with a duct pressurization fan and variable-speed sealant pump
- Control box and heater assembly to manage the temperature and pressure of the air and sealant entering the ducts
- Sealant wands (2) for injecting atomized sealant into the pressurized duct
- Scrubber fans (2) for filtering sealant from the air in the home
- Control case with laptop, portable printer and Aeroseal software
- Air compressor
- Compressed air dryer
- Supplies for several months of projects
- How Does Aeroseal Work?
-
How do I transport, operate and maintain it: Aeroseal is designed to be easy to set-up, operate and maintain. Whether the access to the system is in the basement, garage, hall closet or attic, the system has been designed for convenient set-up and operation. Components are designed to be easily transported in a trailer or service van. The Fan Box, Control Box, Sealant Wand and Scrubber Fans are color coded for quick assembly on the job. After each sealing, the sealant is flushed from the hoses and the wand is briefly soaked in sealant remover. The equipment is then ready to go for the next day’s job.
How long does it take to seal a house: On average, a total of about 4 hours; 1 hour of sealing time and 3 hours for walk through, testing and set-up/breakdown.
What steps will I follow to perform a seal:
- Cover wall registers
- Connect the Aeroseal system to the duct through an access hole
- Duct is pressurized to 25 Pascals (0.1” WC) to measure the pre-sealing leakage rates
- Block wall registers with closed cell foam in order for air to escape only through the leaks
- Block furnace and a/c coils to prevent sealant from getting in these areas; open or block off dampers
- Inject sealant into the ducts for approximately 1 hour
- Ducts are sealed with only 1-2 oz. of the sealant material remaining in the ducts
- A computer-generated analysis summarizing the home’s amount of leakage reduction is generated, providing verification of success of the process
Aeroseal provides a solution to:
- Uneven temperatures resulting in hot and cold rooms
- Excessive humidity and dust
- Musty odors or fume smells
- Increasing energy bills
Aeroseal has a solution that no one else can offer, and you can be a part of the revolution.
