Aeroseal Tapped for “Solving for Zero: The Search for Climate Innovation” Project
New educational series, based on Bill Gates’ best-selling book, “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster,” highlights climate change innovations
DAYTON, OHIO, April 18, 2022 — A 10-part educational series launching on April 15, 2022 will increase awareness of the scientists, start-ups, and solutions helping the world reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. “Solving for Zero: The Search for Climate Innovation,” premiering on Wondrium — the leading streaming provider of lifelong learning content— features Bill Gates along with Aeroseal and its leak sealing technologies that increase the energy efficiency of buildings by as much as 90%.
Aeroseal’s mission is to shrink carbon emissions from buildings by as much as 1 gigaton of CO2 annually with its breakthrough technologies. Aeroseal has already completed nearly 200,000 seals, saving up to $2 billion in energy waste globally.

“Getting to net zero by 2050 will be hard and will require innovation across sectors, but I’m optimistic that together we can reach our goals,” said Bill Gates. “These projects from Wondrium highlight exciting solutions that I hope inspire people to think more broadly about the issue and consider what each of us can do to fight climate change.”
The series is available through Wondrium’s subscription video on demand (SVOD) service. It walks through the science required to combat climate change with a no-nonsense, course-like approach while detailing solutions like Aeroseal’s that can help us reach net zero emissions.
Aeroseal’s technologies were singled out for this project because they address a serious problem — energy-wasting leaks in the buildings we work and live in.
Aeroseal is highlighted in lesson seven, “The Buildings We Live In.” This lesson highlights proven solutions that are making residential and commercial buildings more energy efficient and having a significant impact on climate change.
Aeroseal’s technologies were singled out for this project because they address a serious problem — energy-wasting leaks in the buildings we work and live in.
Of the 40% of energy consumed by buildings, up to 30% of it is wasted due to leaks in HVAC ducts and exterior walls. This is due to the manual installation of ducts and wall construction methods used for new and existing buildings. In fact, even if a building has new, high efficiency heating and cooling units, energy is still wasted due to leaks in the ducts and walls.
Aeroseal’s duct sealing and air sealing technologies represent simple, cost-effective ways to eliminate these energy-wasting leaks. Both solutions reduce air leakage by 90 percent or more. This reduction allows a building to operate more efficiently, shrink its carbon footprint, and reach net zero.
