Aeroseal Used In State-of-the-Art Green Home Building Project
It began in 2013 with the Proud Green Home of Serenbe.
Then it was Proud Green Home St. Louis.
And now, four years after the first project was completed, Proud Green Home of Louisville is set to join the ranks of this ongoing series of home building projects designed to showcase the very latest in green and sustainable home building practices. One difference in this very latest project is that it will incorporate the use of aeroseal duct sealing technology.
The grand facilitators of these projects – Sustainable Community Media — learned about aeroseal technology and was bent on having us be a part of their next project. How could we say no? We knew that aeroseal technology had to be included among the various innovations that are changing the green building industry.
The Proud Green Home Of Louisville job is expected to be completed in early July and will be open to the public as part of the 2016 Homearama, an annual Louisville event that showcases newly constructed homes featuring the latest in building trends, technology and interior design. The home is designed to meet the requirements of green home certification programs, including LEED for Homes, the National Association of Home Builders Green Building Standard and the Zero Energy Ready standard from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The duct sealing is being implemented by Allgeier Air, a licensed Aeroseal dealer located in Louisville, Ky. Other cutting-edge technologies being incorporated into the Proud Green Home of Louisville project include geothermal HVAC, energy recovery ventilation (ERV) and insulated concrete forms (ICF) among others.
Proud Green Home of Louisville will be part of the sustainable Norton Commons Community (NCC), a mixed-use neighborhood designed with overall livability in mind.
